“Looking for the Light” featured on We Distribute mixtape showcasing fediverse artists

“Looking for the Light,” the title track of the 2023 debut album from Ferocious Designs, can be found on a virtual mixtape of fediverse artists compiled by We Distribute, a publication dedicated to Free Software and decentralized communication technologies.

The track can be found on The Mixtape #5: Canned Nostalgia alongside songs from fediverse music legends like 2023 Fedivision winner Futzle, Mike Macgirvin (The Maxwell Silverthorn Blues Band), Shannon Curtis, Blue Nagoon and New Jersey’s own Jason Didner. All of these artists have a social media presence in the fediverse, a collection of social platforms that can interact with one another through federation.

Here is what We Distribute wrote about “Looking for the Light”…

Looking for the Light feels like it was ripped straight out of the 80’s, and it’s wonderful. A choir of voices belting out the words, echoing against loop sequences chiming, as stomp drums hammer out the beat. Absolutely fantastic.

“I’m a huge fan of all the artists on this mixtape and will always turn the volume up when I hear them played on Radio Free Fedi,” said Brian Kelley, the Central New Jersey-based musician behind Ferocious Designs. “To be included among them is quite an honor and just a little mind-blowing.”
