This is a slightly different version of “G.F.Y.” from the one that appears on my 2023 album, Looking for the Light. I was never really happy with how that version turned out so I tried to “fix” it some time ago. I never really finished it, though, aside from reviving some drum and guitar parts intended for the album track. But current events had the song on my mind again so I figured I would quickly clean it up as much as possible and just release it. I started writing “G.F.Y.” shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and the title came from the reported reply from Ukrainians stationed at Snake Island to the Russian cruiser Moskva demanding their surrender.
